The Seasons

Each nation, element, and cardinal direction is also associated with a season. As each season passes, Kedrana falls more in phase with that element and it’s Plane than any others, and as such, that element experiences a swell in it’s power and influence, while it’s opposite diminishes for a time.

Air is associated with winter, water with spring, fire with summer, and earth with autumn.

As such, the ebb and flow of latent energy through Kedrana changes with the seasons, creating the following mechanical influence.

Each season has two associated damage types

  • Winter: Cold, Lightning
  • Spring: Acid, Poison
  • Summer: Fire, Radiant
  • Autumn: Force, Necrotic

When casting a spell of a seasonal element during the associated season

  • Add an additional +1 to attack rolls and saving throw DCs
  • Add an additional +1 to the damage roll

When casting a spell of a seasonal element during the associated season and in the associated region

  • Add an additional +2 to attack rolls and saving throw DCs
  • Add an additional +1 to each die rolled for damage

When casting a spell of a seasonal element during the opposite season

  • Bestow a penalty of -1 to attack rolls and saving throw DCs
  • Bestow a penalty of -1 to the damage roll (minimum of 1)

When casting a spell of a seasonal element during the opposite season and in the opposite region

  • Bestow a penalty of -2 to attack rolls and saving throw DCs
  • Bestow a penalty of -1 to each die rolled for damage

When casting a spell of a seasonal element during the opposite season and in the associated region

  • Cast the spell as normal
